Adam Thompson

Adam Thompson is a pakana writer from Tasmania, who writes contemporary short fiction. His work has been published by the Australian Dictionary of Biography, Kill Your Darlings and Griffith Review as well appearing in several anthologies. In 2016–17, Adam received writing awards through the Tamar Valley Writers Festival and the Tasmanian Writers and Readers Festival. In 2019 Adam was named Tasmanian Aboriginal Artist of the Year.

Adam has been awarded a First Nations Fellowship at Varuna – The Writers House, several Arts Tasmania grants, and was one of ten recipients of The Next Chapter initiative through the Wheeler Centre. More recently Adams book ‘Born Into This’ won The Story Prize Spotlight Award.

Adam is passionate about advancing the interests of the pakana community and has worked for the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre for more than twenty years.
